Lib Dems select new Chairperson

The Brighton and Hove Liberal Democrats have selected Ben Herbert, 24, to be their new Chairperson for 2008.

Ben, who ran the the Liberal Democrats in May's local elections and has campaigned on a variety of local issues, was chosen at the local party's annual general meeting on Monday.

Speaking on his selection, Ben said: "I am proud to have been elected Chair of the Brighton and Hove Lib Dems. I believe that our party has a strong message, both locally and nationally, and look forward to spending the next year promoting the Lib Dem aims of tolerance, fairness and environmentalism in our city."
