Brighton and Hove City Council has failed to keep the authority's mobile phone mast map up-to-date.

The map at www.brighton-hove.gov.uk (under the planning section) is meant to be updated every three months, but it has not been updated since December 2006. It was established to provide residents with easy access to the location of mobile phone masts.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Paul Elgood raised the matter at October's meeting of the full Council with a petition from residents complaining at the Council's failure to keep the map as up-to-date as possible.

Paul said: 'In the spirit of open government it is vital that residents are able to access the latest information on mobile phone masts in their neighbourhood. The Council has failed to keep its own map updated, and have failed to provide this important information to residents. I am now pressing for the map to be kept up-to-date.

'Residents have a right to the easy access of this information.

'I hope the Council will now act.'
