James Ledward to stand in East Brighton for the Lib Dems7.25.52pm GMT Wed 24th Jan 2007
The Lib Dems are fielding three candidates in East Brighton to fight the local council elections in May. Trefor Hunter a former BBC sound engineer and journalist Tim Hodlin, one of the few journalists to have interviewed Saddam Hussein, the Ayatollah Khomeini and Colonel Gaddafi have been joined by James Ledward, the former editor of Brighton's LGBT community magazine, Gscene. The question they will be asking the voters in East Brighton is Who actually runs the city? East Brighton is a very diverse ward stretching from Whitehawk in the North to the middle class roads backing onto Sussex Square, around the Bristol housing estate and behind the Royal Sussex County Hospital. James Ledward said "The politicians locally have surrendered too much power to the civil servants. The voices of the voters are not heard any more. This needs to change."
