Reporting back: Lib Dem Councillors launch 2007 Annual Report7.20.38pm GMT Sat 20th Jan 2007
Liberal Democrat Councillors Dawn Davidson, David Watkins and Paul Elgood report back on their work at the City Council and in Regency and Brunswick & Adelaide wards in their Eighth Annual Report for 2006/2007. Copies of the annual report can be obtained from info@brighton-hovelibdems.org.uk The last twelve months has seen a series of improvements for local residents. Liberal Democrat Councillors Dawn Davidson, David Watkins and Paul Elgood have worked with the Council in achieving significant progress on a range of issues. Areas of work include supporting: New CCTV cameras at Norfolk Square and at the Floral Clock to tackle anti-social behaviour problems; New Children's Centres to improve the provision of services to local children and their families; A re-examination of school admissions, with the aim of making access to the City's secondary schools fairer for all young people; Investment in the Floral Clock area to improve pedestrian access and to make crossings safer; Progress in the ongoing fight to keep our streets tidy and improve rubbish collections, including the successful installation of new bins in Waterloo Street & Lansdowne Place; Backing the Council's funding for free bus passes for older and disabled people; Supporting residents on a range of campaigns, including to extend the ban of Estate Agents Boards, to reduce speeding traffic and for railings to be returned to Norfolk Square; A major improvement project in New Road, opening the area up to pedestrians and improving the road's layout.
