Brighton Conference Centre

Young people from Hove met up with conference delegates to discuss issues facing them this afternoon.

Lib Dem Party President Simon Hughes MP and party youth spokesperson Jenny Willott MP discussed issues with the young people.

Top of the agenda was the cost of college travel locally, the young people also wanted to see the voting age lowered. One said that her wish was to change the attitude of older people who often viewed young people as causing problems, such as anti-social behaviour, when the vast majority do not.

Lib Dem City Councillor Paul Elgood spoke at the meeting, he said: 'These young people have raised a series of important local issues and I will certainly be taking them back to colleagues on the council. Councillors certainly need to be hearing what we heard today.

'The MPs and delegates found the discussion really interesting as it brought real life experience from the young people into the conference.'
