Lib Dems back calls for waste depot call-in

4.05.31pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 11th Jul 2006

Liberal Democrats are backing calls for the call-in of the proposed Hollingdean waste transfer site. The Lib Dems backed residents by voting against the planning application which was only passed when certain Tory Councillors joined with Labour Councillor to push the proposals through.

Cllr Paul Elgood, Lib Dem Environment Spokesperson said: "We would support a call-in. We thought the decision was a mistake as it would have a very serious adverse effect on the local area and residents, especially in terms of the school."
