Lib Dems win further consultation on Central Brighton parking boundaries12.08.10pm BST (GMT +0100) Sun 11th Jun 2006
Lib Dem Councillors have won a significant victory in their battle to improve parking for residents in the City Centre. At Thursday's Environment Committee, the Liberal Democrats moved an amendment at the meeting meaning further consultation on the boundary debate. This comes after significant progress was made on the issue, including the return of single yellow lines, the end of long waiting lists for permits and the creation of a massive number of new spaces. All requested by Lib Dem Councillors. Bizarrely, the Greens joined forces with the pro-car lobby - making an absolute mockery of their so-called eco credentials - to try and defeat these proposals and Labour's last remaining Councillor in Regency also spoke against these achievements.
