Police

Local Lib Dem activist and candidate for next year's council elections Ben Herbert, has voiced concern over the proposed merger of the Sussex and Surrey police forces.

Commenting on the proposal, Ben questioned not only the financial aspects of the merger, but also the possible effects that such a merger may have on the LGBT community. Discussing the issue, Ben commented "Sussex police have made great advances in recent years in regards to their relationship with Brighton and Hove's LGBT community. This proposed merger may possibly threaten this relationship, as well as potentially making the police's decision making process less responsive to the needs of local Brighton and Hove residents."
