Brunswick & Adelaide ward Councillors have worked closely with the Council over changes at the Floral Clock.

The latest press release on the scheme:

Disruption to residents caused by roadworks around the Floral Clock area of Hove over the coming months is being kept to a minimum thanks to the city council planning ahead jointly with Southern Water.

The council's work to improve crossing facilities, reduce traffic speeds and make the area more attractive is already underway. Preliminary work for a traffic signal installation around the junction of Holland Road and Western Road has started, and work on the main part of the scheme is due to start in January.

Meanwhile Southern Water have brought forward a water mains renewal project for the area - including an upgrade for the fire hydrant networks - so that work can go on at the same time.

Work on the Southern Water scheme starts today. In January a second Southern Water gang will also start work on the south side of the Floral Clock. Their work is due to be completed by the end of February.

Also in January council contractors will start work on environmental improvements on the north side of the floral clock following on behind the Southern Water works.

When all the work is finished in about six months' time residents will have a more attractive, safer and accessible environment, as well as a modern water service.

Road crossings will be improved and traffic speeds reduced, while the visual street scene will also be greatly improved with new paving and street furniture in keeping with the historic setting.
