On the hustings: Lib Dem candidates out and about9.26.19pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 22nd Apr 2005
Brighton & Hove's three Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidates have been out and about in the three constituencies addressing various meetings and hustings. Events range from student forums to a speed canvassing session. At the Peacehaven Hustings Kemp Town's Marina Pepper spoke out against Southern Water's plans for a water treatment plant. She has also addressed an important housing hustings meeting. She also starred on the Politics Show last week talking about the Lib Dem approach to anti-social behaviour and crime. Instead of speed dating, Pavilion's Hazel Thorpe took part in a speed canvassing session in Brighton. She has also addressed a large pensioners forum meeting and a public meeting against ID cards. In Hove, Paul Elgood joined BASVIC students on Thursday and talked about issues ranging from the party's plans on student fees to his views against fox hunting. He also spoke at the LGBT hustings and various other meetings on local business, pensioner issues, against the Iraq War and environmental issues. He appeared on BBC South East in their 'election cab' this week. Paul said: 'The level of debate from the various audiences has been very high, its been a stimulating and exciting experience.'
