Brunswick & Adelaide Councillor Paul Elgood has written to the Chief Fire Officer, objecting to plans to reduce aerial fire capability in Brighton & Hove.

Paul represents Brunswick & Adelaide ward which includes Palmeira Avenue where the shocking 1992 fire tragedy took place.

Paul said: 'I am deeply concerned that any proposals to reduce aerial fire capabilities could undermine fire safety in my ward which is mostly made up of densely built-up housing. I am putting pressure on against this.'

Letter Attached:

Dear Chief Fire Officer

I am writing to make objections to the loss of any aerial fires unit from Preston Circus, under proposals brought forward in the IRMP.

I represent an area of Hove where the 1992 Palmeira Avenue fire tragedy took place, and believe that because of the density and height of housing that the current proposals will undermine fire safety in this area.

I have also received representations from residents and Resident Associations in my ward against these plans.

I would be grateful if you would keep me up-to-date of these proposals.

Councillor Paul Elgood

Brunswick & Adelaide ward, Brighton & Hove City Council.
